COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION: EXPELLED
LFF23 presents Expelled, a collective exhibition hosted at Krško’s cultural center, Kulturni Dom.
The exhibition brings together emerging artists from different countries, presenting their work publicly for the first time. Working across different media — from photography to sculpture and graphic design — the artists articulate personal and collective experiences shaped by multiple factors of expulsion intertwined in the artists’ lives and work.
Expelled focuses on the social and territorial periphery as a radical space of possibility and resistance: rather than understanding the periphery as a place of lack, the exhibition frames it as a site of agency, where new forms of expression, resistance, and belonging can emerge.
The exhibition will open on Friday, January 23, in the presence of the curators and participating artists. It will remain open until Sunday, January 25, coinciding with the closing of the festival.

AUDIOVISUAL PERFORMANCE: ESOMBRO
LFF23 presents Escombro, a film performance. A combination of analog and digital projection, live soundscape, and a live performer delivering spoken poetry that enters into dialogue with the audience.
The work reflects on the loss of home—both physical and symbolic—through images of destruction, displacement, and what remains after: rubble, memory, and absence.
- Saturday, 24.1., 18:30, Kulturni dom, Krško
PERFORMATIVE DINNER
LFF23 presents a performative dinner which explores the intersections of migration, globalisation, and communal eating. Blending culinary practice with storytelling, sound, and site-specific elements. The fusion of local and diasporic ingredients, challenging notions of authenticity and exoticism in food culture. By juxtaposing global and local, the performance invites reflection on the ways culinary traditions evolve, questioning what is preserved, lost, or reinterpreted through movement and displacement.
The dinner will be performed by Malka Sultan, an artist working with food as a sensorial, relational, and political medium. Rooted in Yemeni and Indian heritage and shaped by a life lived across Vilnius, her practice explores exile, memory, and cultural hybridity through communal rituals of cooking and eating. Through collective preparations, shared plates, and the rejection of cutlery, they create intimate situations that dissolve boundaries between host and guest, self and other. These gatherings function as temporal spaces where myth, seasonal rhythms, and personal histories intersect.
LFF23 ends with the official LFF award ceremony and a live hiphop music event.
